Ego Filium tuum, Vir celeberrime, illustrissimo Domino Legato de meliori nota commendaveram, monueramque statim esse offerendum salarium, quod ipsum deceat. Quamobrem laeto nuncio accepi, ipsi oblatum fuisse salarium mille Rubelorum. Atat! significavit mihi heri illustr. Dn. Legatus Russorum Monarcham ex hac vita ad meliorem migrasse. Quamobrem cum nemo jam sit, qui negotium Academicum urgeat; facile vides, expectandum esse donec appareat, quae successori mens sit futura. Nuper mihi quoque significatum fuit, Hermannum acceptasse conditionem oblatam. Quodsi jam a Rege Borussiae dimissionem impetravit, vicem ipsius doleo: neque enim video, ubinam spartam, quam ornet, sit obtenturus. Bülffingerus quoque jam dimissionem quaesivit et impetravit: sed cum Patronis utatur, quae Principis gratia fruuntur, spero futurum, ut denuo recipiatur, neque enim credo ipsi jam successorem esse datum. Ex Commentariis Academiae Regiae Scientiarum et Transactionibus Anglicanis intellexi,[1] cum Anglos,[2] tum Gallos[3] insurgere contra mensuram virium Leibnitianam: quod mirum videri non poterat, quoniam ipsi per vim aliud quidpiFile icon.gifam intelligunt quam Leibnitius. Scribit Fontenellius, me autoritate Leibnitii seductum errori ejus subscripsisse;[4] sed ego principia dynamica dudum perfecta analysi comprehendi, resolvendo demonstrationes in veri nominis axiomata, propositiones scilicet identicas, aut minimum ipsis aequipollentes qualis v. gr. est ista, eadem vis eodem tempore eundem producit effectum.
